Top scorer of the Copa America on 7 goals, author of the equalizer on 93 minutes, best player of the final and of the Copa America, Brazilian striker Adriano enjoyed na afternoon of glory, in Lima, Peru. The Inter Milan player, who scored 7 goals in 6 matches, was key for Brazil in the entire competition.

In the quarterfinals, he scored a brace against Mexico, earned a penalty and turned provider for Ricardo Oliveira to add another for Brazil. Against Uruguay, he scored the leveler and one more in the shootout. In the final, against Argentina, he scored a goal in added time, on 93 minutes, bringing on the penalty shootout. He converted the first spot-kick, leading the way for victory and the title. Voted the best player of the match, Adriano was voted by the Organizing Committee and Conmebol the best player of the Copa America 2004.

"I´m very happy. I clinched three titles in one go. I thank God, my family and my teammates for everything.", said Adriano, who explained the thrill of scoring the last gasp equalizer. "It gave me a feeling of alleviation. It was exciting. I took my shirt off and was cautioned, but it was worthwhile."
