The players on the Colombian squad are convinced they have the strength and options to reach the finals of the Copa América, just as they did three years ago in their country, although Argentina are considered one of the powerhouses in world football.

Midfielder Jairo Patiño, who plays in the Argentinean League with Newell¿s, stated that their semifinal rivals ¿always keep a winning mentality, and so do the Colombians.¿

Patiño prefers not to think too much about the potential of the side managed by Marcelo Bielsa. ¿Because it¿s more important to think of our performance.¿, he said.

The Colombian player believes that the Peruvian fans might have a huge influence in the match since their national side was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Argentina.

Current Deportivo Cali midfielder, Tressor Moreno, will also enjoy local support since he played for Alianza Lima in the past.

Moreno recalled fond memories of the spell he had in Peruvian football, ¿especially the people¿. But he said he¿s focused on the match against Argentina.

¿They are tough opposition, but interesting in terms of what Colombia can produce.¿, stated the midfielder, who scored two goals in the tournament, both from spot-kicks he himself earned.

Moreno also expressed that the national team ¿is composed of young players selected the Professor (Reinaldo Rueda) who are friends, enjoy playing and work hard. ¿ Striker Elkim Murillo stated that ¿Argentina are a fine squad who deserve respect, but the best way to show respect is by beating them.¿
